We have to remember that our tuition pays the wages of our teachers. My son goes to a private school and we were discussing refunds or discounts. It'd be nice to get a refund I'm graduating in December so I couldn't even walk in May anyway. If I'm being honest, neither decision really affects me. I think I have a somewhat decent understanding of both sides. Not a school but my dad's running a healthcare business where he had to call it off because no one wanted to go to hospitals under their regular duties, but on the flip side the Ministry is asking them to up production. Oh I'm sure man, that post wasn't supposed to be a typical 'admins/exec isn't doing shit' post. Please be patient, since this is all new ground for everyone and there are no historic precedents to follow. Some of these decisions are complicated, because outside vendors for things like dining services have guaranteed contracts that were bid with no idea that something like this could happen. They are also struggling with decisions on refunding partial dorm fees, meal plan fees, etc.

Your commencement event truly means just as much to the faculty/staff as it does to the graduates and their families, and it is also painful from us to see it cancelled because it is an annual celebration of our hard work as well as yours. Just so you know from the other side of the decision, every single college/university is struggling with the decision about cancelling commencements right now. Party time gents, let's get a zoom call going and down some shotsįorget turkey, go find a cave and hide in it. My mom also said that the ministry of health in Turkey sent over a few guys saying they are willing to purchase any and all units we produce (we deal with lots of blood works, respiratory stuff and cardiology stuff) and that we should look into ways of increasing output.

Plus one of my friends is going viral now after she spotted the daughter of the civil aviation minister was escorted off the quarantine zone shortly after they landed, in police cars. They evacuated dorms to quarantine people but let them run around freely for some reason. 16k or so people came from pilgrimage, keep in mind these are generally older people. Turkey is also seemingly about to shit the bed too, if they haven't already (strong chance they can be hiding). Then just now got an email saying the entrepreneurship competition we joined is cancelled.

The school just officially cancelled commencement, multiple schools' students sending out petitions on facebook to either get a partial refund (since the tuition we pay includes stuff like free bus for students, gyms etc), or to make classes pass/fail this semester.
